SPRING 2025 SELECTIONS
I have been a member of the Poetry Book Society for over ten years, and I am always overjoyed to receive the PBS choice in the post each quarter. It always feels like Christmas, when the most dynamic and hottest poetry collections arrive through my letterbox. Books inevitably sure to make some of the shortlists of the top poetry prizes. I have to admit though that the bonus is the booklet/magazine with articles about the recommended collections and a list of books published that quarter. I can always keep up to date - I actually believe the Poetry Book Society is necessary to the ecology
of poetry sector.

As someone always on the look-out for the most exciting new poetry, I turn to the Poetry Book Society’s recommendations. The PBS ‘Choice’ is something striking every time; thanks to it, I’ve made some treasured discoveries over the last couple of years. For people who want to keep abreast of the best poetry being written today, I can’t recommend a PBS subscription enough. And if you know someone who’s a poetry lover, what an amazing Christmas gift a subscription would be!

Join NCLA and the Poetry Book Society to celebrate the Spring 2025 Selections, toast the new PBS Selector - award-winning writer Yomi Ṣode - and launch Strange Beach by Oluwaseun (Seun) Olayiwola - the very first title in Fitzcarraldo’s new poetry series. Poet and choreographer Seun explores themes of queer Black masculinity, death, family and love in this deft and philosophical debut. Impassioned, insightful and electric, Yomi Ṣode’s Manorism delves into Black British lives, art, belonging and inheritance. Don’t miss this thought-provoking evening with two rising poetry stars.
